ABOUT ME
Originally from Seattle, O’Donnell is a 26-year-old artist whose practice started at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, using her work as both a reflection of the chaos of the zeitgeist and an escape mechanism from it. During the isolation of quarantine, she found freedom in the flexibility of abstraction and took refuge in the peaceful state of mind she enters when she’s painting. Her large-scale work juxtaposes traditional western painting techniques with Eastern Sumi-e techniques, reflecting her heritage and having an upbringing in Chinese, Japanese, and American culture. The striking vibrancy of oil and impasto combined with the layered fluidity of drawing inks and gold leaf acrylic creates a unique contrast that makes her pieces so breathtaking. Now residing in Southern California, she finds inspiration from the vibrant coastline.
